My name is Priya Amin, and I'm currently a second year HMS student. As a '19 Pfoho alum, I'm excited to once again be a part of the best house on campus! I did a joint degree in AFVS and History of Science with a secondary in OEB/IB, and I'd be happy to talk about my experience as a joint concentrator. After taking VES 54S: Animating Science in my sophomore year, I began to think about ways to merge my interests in science, medicine, and storytelling. While in college, I interned at scientific educational media companies, did research in breast cancer pathology, and worked on a few non-scientific film shoots as an intern in LA. After graduation, I completed my MS degree in Narrative Medicine at Columbia and worked as a member of the ABC News Medical Unit. The journey of carving my own path within the medical humanities has been full of self-discovery, creativity, and excitement, and I'd encourage anyone to find a way to merge their interests as well! I'd be happy to talk any non-traditional pathways and ideas, including but not limited to, narrative medicine, educational media, clinical medicine, animation, filmmaking, medical journalism, creative writing, and illustration.
