I’m a first-year PhD student in global health at the Harvard Chan School, and my research interests, broadly speaking, involve applying methods and perspectives from microeconomics to the analysis of health system behavior. I did my undergrad degree in political economy at Brown, and then I spent four years as a full-time research assistant for applied economists—initially at Harvard Business School and subsequently at the Chan School—before beginning my PhD. If you’re interested in getting involved with research or (at some point) applying to PhD programs (especially in a social science or public health field), please don’t hesitate to get in touch! In my own case, it took me a long time to figure out that I wanted to pursue a PhD, and my college self would be shocked to hear that I landed in global health, so if you have no idea what you want in life, feel free to reach out, too! I considered a wide range of public service paths and so may be particularly well-positioned to comment on those.

Outside of school, I like to wander in the wilderness, sail on the Charles, listen to music, and grow hot peppers. I also try to keep past academic interests in 20th-century literature and analytic philosophy alive in my reading, at least when I’m not swamped with course material. I’m always happy to chat about any of the above!
